The fancy outfit and Italianate setting make me think he may have been channeling Romeo

they really pop against the unpainted (clear) glass backgrounds

Beautiful Small Two Piece Carved Black Duck curated pottery a bit of age toningThis lovely old carved wooden duck is small a bit shy of 5 inches long but has quite a wonderful presence and sense of specialness about it, in significant part I think due to the head having been carved from a separate piece of wood than the body, which, together with the sensitive carving of the form, makes me think perhaps caved by a practiced decoy maker. Primitive, elegant, distinctive, and to my eye quite a perfect thing. 4 7 8 l x 2 t x 1 7 8 w
