these Gunther Wagner oil crayons in great wooden original box date to sometime prior to the late 1930s

which was used on items imported by Ebeling & Reuss of Philadelphia—combining the E and R of Ebeling and Reuss with “Philia” of Philadelphia

The four little pedestal legs upon which the tub rests are pretty great too

and the sweet story of a Jacques and Marie escaping to the the beach on a hot July day in Paris

Grinding Done Here 1907 Drawn Postcard handmade mannequin these Gunther Wagner oil crayonsI not sure if this would be a cutler, or a tool maker, sharpening what looks like a knife but perhaps is some other tool on this grinding wheel but I sure love the image of him! And what a diligent, patient grinder he looks to be, and pretty great in his overalls and striped shirt with rolled up sleeves. I thought this one might make a nice gift for anyone doing a good job persevering through the daily grind, though all the better if literally so!
