Jean de La Fontaine (1621-95) collected fables from a wide variety of sources
and to now to become the steward of some of my favorites among them
and a foot on the underside that is a bit loose
Nice too that this one should have a (perfectly preserved) mirror inside--for checking one's primeness
which is the bottom half of an old cardboard box into which they fit well
